EUDI Wallet Formats

Our event formats are designed to create spaces for exchange, innovation, and collaboration. We bring together stakeholders from public administration, business, research, and civil society to develop concrete use cases, discuss new ideas, and jointly test solutions.

Through a range of approaches, from open dialogue formats and community events to hands-on innovation formats, we promote active participation in building the EUDI Wallet ecosystem while ensuring transparent processes and open exchange.

Exchange at Expert Conferences

In addition to our own formats, the national EUDI Wallet project regularly participates in external events. At these events, we contribute perspectives from the project to the expert community, connect with relevant stakeholders, and gather insights from practical applications.

Engagement at expert conferences strengthens integration within the overall ecosystem and helps identify and further develop emerging trends at an early stage.

This year, for example, the project was represented at re:publica, contributing expert input to the discussions.

Open Online Consultations (OOCs)

The OOCs are a central dialogue format of the national EUDI Wallet project. They enable continuous exchange and provide a structured framework for engaging with stakeholders from research, civil society, business, and public administration. In sessions of around 90 minutes, we provide updates on current project topics and address questions from the community — both live and afterwards. Topics range from strategic considerations to technical details, use cases, and practical experiences. We have decided that this format will be held in English to enable exchange within an internationally driven ecosystem and to ensure that stakeholders from different countries can participate. Contributions in German will of course also be addressed.

EUDI ON 2026

The event EUDI ON brought together key actors of the wallet ecosystem in Berlin and online on June 25, 2026. As the central community event of the EUDI Wallet project, it connected stakeholders from public administration, business, research, and civil society to share developments, use cases, and progress, and to shape the future together.

The event created space for exchange, networking, and new impulses, thereby strengthening the ongoing development of the EUDI Wallet ecosystem. The focus was on current use cases, progress from the sandbox, and the exchange of experiences and next steps. Building on previous formats such as the FUNKE challenge, the event opened up space for new impulses and joint progress.

EUDI Wallet Hackathon 2026

The EUDI Wallet Hackathon brought together participants from all backgrounds to develop innovative ideas and implement initial solutions for the EUDI Wallet ecosystem. Working in interdisciplinary teams, they created prototypes and practical approaches addressing key challenges.

The hackathon was also an integral part of the broader format: the best results were presented and further discussed at the EUDI ON Community Event.

FUNKE – EUDI Wallet Prototypes

The “EUDI Wallet Prototypes” innovation challenge (FUNKE), led by SPRIND, supported the development and testing of concrete EUDI Wallet solutions. Its goal was to explore different technical approaches and validate them through prototypes, generating valuable insights for shaping the EUDI Wallet ecosystem.

Within the challenge, multiple teams worked in parallel on innovative wallet solutions, aiming to create secure, privacy-preserving, and user-centric applications. These approaches were iteratively developed and compared to identify the most promising solutions.

The FUNKE challenge provided important impulses for the further development of the national EUDI Wallet architecture and strengthened the European tech and identity community. The resulting prototypes demonstrate how digital identities can be implemented in a secure, trustworthy, and practical way
