At a press conference on 9 September 2026 attended by around 40 launch partners and members of the media, Minister Wildberger introduced the name of the government-backed EUDI Wallet app. The application will be launched under the name d-you and feature a dedicated logo.
“With d-you, we are building a digital service that delivers real value, puts people first and creates trust,” said Minister Wildberger. “The ‘d’ stands for digital and Germany, among other things, while ‘you’ highlights our commitment to designing the app around users’ needs.”
This commitment is reflected in both the app’s functionality and its design. d-you is being developed to make the everyday use of digital credentials as intuitive as possible for a wide range of users. The focus is on creating a wallet that is easy to understand, accessible and practical to use, whether for proving personal information, qualifications or entitlements.
The logo conveys the same idea by combining layered documents with a protective hand. It symbolizes both digital credentials and users’ control over their personal data. Individuals decide which credentials are stored in the wallet and what information they choose to share.
The first credentials and use cases are scheduled to become available when d-you launches on 2 January 2027. The launch, however, marks the beginning rather than the end of the journey. A broader EUDI ecosystem will continue to develop around d-you, with additional credentials, services and digital public-sector applications to be integrated over time. Use of d-you will be voluntary and free of charge.
