PRESENTATION

The national EUDI Wallet project participated at the Open House of the German Federal Government 2026 at the Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS).

At the Open House of the German Federal Government, visitors enjoyed a diverse programme at the Federal Ministry for Digital Transformation and Government Modernisation (BMDS): from a newly designed building experience featuring an immersive installation in the atrium at Friedrichstraße 108, a 360‑degree projection and an interactive web app to exhibits from across the ministry, a start‑up space, guided tours, and opportunities to meet the ministry’s leadership, the event offered a behind‑the‑scenes look at current digital topics and initiatives.

As part of this program, the national EUDI Wallet project provided insights into the development of the state-issued EUDI Wallet and demonstrated how citizens will be able to identify themselves easily and securely via smartphone and share credentials across Germany and Europe in the future. Alongside numerous interested visitors, Federal Minister for Digital Affairs Karsten Wildberger also took the opportunity to engage in discussion with the project team. The personal exchange on site clearly illustrated the EUDI Wallet’s potential for everyday digital use in Germany and Europe and made the vision of a sovereign, user-friendly digital identity tangible.

A recap of the event is available here.
