At OOC #28 on 11 June 2026 at 16:30, the role of intermediaries as service providers in the EUDI Wallet ecosystem was the central focus. The session explored how they can support organizations (Relying Parties) in connecting more easily to the ecosystem.

The Role of Intermediaries in the Ecosystem

Intermediaries were presented as specialized service providers that support both the registration process and technical integration, making it easier for Relying Parties to connect to the EUDI Wallet ecosystem. At the same time, their role raised questions around requirements, responsibilities, and transparency from both a regulatory and a practical perspective, which were addressed during the session.

From Concept to Practice

The session combined conceptual foundations with practical insights. Participants were given an overview of how intermediaries support Relying Parties, the role they play under the eIDAS Regulation, and how they are applied in practice within the EUDI Wallet ecosystem. In addition, the session highlighted how intermediaries can help scale participation while ensuring that responsibilities remain clearly defined.

The event addressed a broad audience and was particularly relevant for service providers and Relying Parties considering working with an intermediary or taking on this role themselves. During an open Q&A and feedback session, participants shared perspectives and discussed the role of intermediaries in more detail.
